PW EAGLE ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTS RETIREMENT President James K. Rash Helped Lead PWPipe and PWEagle Through Business Growth and Mergers to Position as Second Largest PVC Pipe Extruder in U.S.; Company Also Names Fleming President, Announces Other Management Changes MINNEAPOLIS February 7, 2001 PW Eagle, Inc. (Nasdaq-NMS: PWEI, formerly EPII) announced today that James K. Rash is retiring as president of PW Eagle effective February 28, 2001. Larry I. Fleming, the Companys current senior vice president, sales and marketing, has been named president of PW Eagle effective at the retirement date. Mr. Rash has been president of PWPipe since 1982 and was made president of PW Eagle upon the merging of Eagle Pacific Industries and PWPipe in 1999. Mr. Rash led the management team that built PWPipe from a single plant operation to six plants throughout California, Oregon and Washington. He subsequently led the operating management team that combined the Eagle Pacific Industries and PWPipe operations, helping PW Eagle become the largest extruder of PVC pipe in the western United States and the second largest in the entire U. S. Larry I. Fleming, the current senior vice president, sales and marketing for PW Eagle, will succeed Mr. Rash as president immediately following his retirement. Mr. Fleming has been an integral part of the operating management of PWPipe and PW Eagle for more than 10 years and has more than 20 years of experience in the plastic pipe industry. PW Eagle also announced that N. Michael Stickel has been hired to replace Mr. Fleming as senior vice president, sales and marketing. PWPipe employed Mr. Stickel from 1985 to 1992 in various capacities including vice president, marketing. Most recently he served as vice president and general manager of Simpson Paper Companys coated and specialty group. In announcing these management changes, PW Eagle Chief Executive Officer William H. Spell stated, We are greatly indebted to Jim Rash for his leadership of the PWPipe and now PW Eagle operating management team. Under his direction, the operations of PWPipe and Eagle Pacific Industries were combined in a manner that was seamlessly, efficiently and expeditiously accomplished, and PW Eagle is now the leading plastic pipe company in the western United States. We are also very pleased that Larry Fleming will become president. He will be an able successor to Jim and has the confidence of the customers and employees. Larrys many years of experience in the pipe business have prepared him well for this position. We are also pleased that Mike Stickel will return to the company to take over responsibility for sales and marketing. While we will miss Jim, as president he helped groom a great management team that will be able to successfully continue to manage PW Eagle operations.
